So brave

Today, I finally got the guts to walk out of class 30 minutes early, only to find that the back door was locked. As I stood there like an idiot trying to get it open, all 200 people in my class turned to laugh. My professor stared at me. I then walked back to my seat, sat down, and unpacked. FML

why would the door be locked from the inside?

I only know this because I'm an architecture student, but pulling the door wouldn't have gotten him very far. Fire code requires that all exit doors in assembly rooms (100+ people) swing outwards and have crash bars on them in case people panic. Fire code also states that no exit doors can be locked from the inside, but I could see a professor or TA being a jerk and doing that. But seriously, who leaves class early? I can see getting there late, but you kind of single yourself out for ridicule when you leave early.

Sounds like a college class? Why would you walk out early if you are paying for it?

YDI for not caring about a class you're paying for. If you didn't want to be there, you shouldn't have come in the first place. If there was a good reason for leaving, you're an adult, you can schedule your appointments around your classes or skip the entire class for the day.

Its college...your professor couldn't care less if you left early or didn't show up at all - its your time and money wasted.

in my state, it's illegal to lock students in from the inside. you always are able to walk out, but it's locked when you try to get back in.

It's a sign, bro. Hey, maybe you can major in lock picking!

Maybe they had to leave early to get to an appointment or they didn't feel good or something. I'm sure there was a reason
