So close…

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2011 but it's good stuff - Canada

Today, a pretty co-worker invited me out for drinks after my shift. I have no money left until payday. Embarrassed, I had to decline and go home alone. FML

You should have said you were busy and rescheduled it. Don't let her think you're not interested at least.

How is that embarrassing? Many people are in the same rut as you, you should of just told her the truth instead of seeming like you were turning her down...Smooth.

Not everyone can get those. They're pretty hard to get! You need to have your credit score checked, blah blah blah, and if someone had taken your name for fraudulent purposes, you're ****** until that's been taken care of. Credit cards really only run you more debt and screw you over unless you're smart about using it. He should have just told the damn girl that he'd see her next payday because he's broke right now. Is it really that much of a blow to the self esteem to say that?

what? they are not hard to get? maybe u dont know how to handle money well

I can handle money perfectly well and have a credit card of my own, thanks. It did take a while to get since it was my first card. I applied around 5-6 times. None of my friends were able to get a credit card, unless they went to the nearby corner store and bought a prepaid MasterCard.

YDI for spending all your money/not earning enough.

I hope you at least made up a good excuse and asked her if she would be interested in going out another time, and named a day after payday.

if she rly is interested in you, she'd prolly ask you out again. but then again, you could have done something better like providing alternative ideas or explaining to her the real reason. simply declining like that is never a brilliant move..... judging by the fact that you're sulking over it since you bothered posting it on fml.

Why didn't you just tell her, "I'd love to but I don't have any money to pay for drinks"? Most girls would understand. Or if she really likes you she might offer to pay for them.
