Today, my boyfriend said he wanted to marry me. Since he doesn't know my ring size, he asked for me to find a ring that I liked, and he would buy it and propose. The only problem is that he won't spend more than 200 dollars on it. Oh, the generosity. FML

It's about the love, not the ring.

$200 is way more than you should spend on a ring anyway. YDI for valuing the ring over the love!

I say if it isn't a 2ct solitare from Tiffany's, the answer is NO!

I think 200 dollars is pretty reasonable, even more so.

says someone who's obviously never been jewelry shopping. Seriously, you go try to find something you'd be happy to wear every day for the rest of you life for less than $200.

you only wear your engagement ring until your wedding day. after that you wear your wedding ring. dipshit

Actually, I have a promise ring, necklace and bracelet set, with diamonds and our names engraved on all 3 pieces, and it cost just under $300. It's not gold, but silver (I prefer silver over gold, since it's what I wear most often). So, obviously you CAN get something decent-if you know how to shop around.

don't be so ungrateful! With an attitude like that you're lucky anyone wants to marry you

if you're disappointed with the limitations of having him buy your wedding ring, then buy it yourself
