Today, I’m pregnant and have been experiencing the most severe depression of all my life. My long-time therapist asked me to think about whether “this is the right time for me to be in therapy,” then dropped me as a client. FML

Please go see your doctor. Pregnancy can change your brain chemistry massively and sometimes that triggers depression. You may need to go on medication short term to help relieve these very temporary symptoms. No amount of talk therapy is going to change hormonal fluctuations.

Your issues are more than a therapist can handle. You need a psychiatrist who can address some of the medical causes of your depression. Of course, even the best psychiatrist can't fix climate change, Vladimir Putin, the rise of nationalism leading to autocracy, massive voter suppression and the trampling of women's right. You'd have to be a complete nut job to NOT be depressed these days.

Ugh. Sadly i can agree with you on that. But sadly, very few meds are baby friendly. My wife found that out when a non friendly med caused us to lose our child.
