Today, I needed a change of clothes, so I called my mom. She brought me a grey shirt with a toucan on the front and 'Mexico City' spelled in glitter. I asked her why she would bring me such an ugly shirt, and she started crying. Turns out she'd bought it for me as a present from her trip. FML

Today, I returned a shirt for my mom. When the cashier asked why, I just said my mom didn't like the way it looked. After an awkward pause, I noticed the cashier was wearing the same shirt. She was not amused. FML

Today, my non-English-speaking grandma bought me a new t-shirt. It would've been sweet if it didn't have the word "bondage" written on the back in pretty, bold letters. I had no choice but to wear it while we went shopping. FML

Today, for my mom's 50th birthday, all she wanted was a certain gold bracelet. It was too much money for me to buy, so I bought the same one in silver. Right before I gave it to her, my older sister gave her the gold bracelet, which made her cry. When I gave her my present, she just said, "Oh." FML

Today, I got dressed in a hurry and grabbed what I though was a basic white shirt from the clean laundry pile. It wasn’t until I stepped into the elevator at work and saw myself in the mirror that I realized I was wearing one of my girlfriend’s shirt. It was snug, had a floral pattern, and made me look like I was trying too hard to be trendy. It was a long day. FML

What harm is it going to cause you to wear an interesting shirt for a few hours that your mama brought to you as a favor? You should have just said thank you and worn it. Not be ungrateful.

Yes OP, you should be thankful that your mother bought you an ugly shirt that will probably spend its whole life in your closet because you'll never wear it out in public! You should be thankful for such a useless gift! /sarcasm I'm wondering how many of the people saying you should appreciate any gift you get would write me a letter of appreciation if I gifted them one of Justin Beiber's albums...

Ugly shirt is an ugly shirt, I prefer the honesty and she should too. Better to know your tastes so she can get something you'd like next time than more ugly shirts. Doesn't mean OP isn't thankful for the thought, she just didn't like the gift.
