If they are an American based business selling American products they should have no problem succeeding with Trump as president.
Even if it’s 100% American, the stuff to build it probably was imported. House? American labor, imported wood. Fruits/vegetables? The equipment used to plant, water, harvest has imported materials in it. TV? Imported materials. Vehicles? Imported materials (my Ford has an engine from Mexico and transmission from Canada, seat covers from Vietnam, dipstick from Brazil, and tires made from Brazilian rubber). Clothes? Materials from Vietnam, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico. Very few things are 100% American products, as many things simply are not manufactured in the US and rely on parts from imports.
Also, when you say American labor, you have to think legal immigrants who work hard for their little money. House? Half the construction team will probably be deported because they look too brown. Food? There's already a shortage of good Latin American immigrants to cultivate, slaughter, and prepare said food, and white-bread Americans simply cannot do the job. Vehicles? If it's not assembled by Mexicans, it's assembled in Mexico. Clothes? Lots of Indians, Bengladeshi and Pakistani women work in the few American clothes factories that remain. Even the famous sidewalk panels for the blind that proudly display "Made in the USA" are mostly made by immigrants. And the saddest thing is lots of those legal immigrants voted Trump.
That’s why everything needs to be American made. If people want to buy stuff that’s not made 100% in America than they deserve to pay 20% more for the same product
That’s the thing many do not understand about tariffs. It’s great to,say “buy 100% American and avoid the 20%” but what do people tend to purchase a lot of constantly? Technology. Name a cell phone that has 100% American parts? I’ll tell you now, Apple, Samsung have very few American components in them, and even the few American components, are made with rare earth materials that are found in China (meaning 35% tariffs for that new cell phone), and if the rare earth is mined in the US, it costs way more than the 35% tariff would cost, because of labor, environmental laws, etc. Want that brand new 100 inch TV that’s being shown on TikTok? Again, 35% tariff (rare earths again). Want a new PC/Laptop? Again 35%, those pesky rare earths, never mind the semi conductors come from Taiwan. Yes there has been a push for the past 3 years to make semiconductors in the US, but guess what, even when those factories open up, guess where the rare earths are going to be coming from? And guess what China has been doing steadily for the past 5-6 years- placing limits on rare earth exports. Like I said, there is almost nothing that is 100% American made, and almost everything has some sort of imported component involved. The US gets 86% of its tomatoes from Mexico, even though the US produces hundreds of millions of pounds domestically, but the amount needed cannot be grown domestically (keep in mind ind, tomatoes are in a lot of foods and used numerous different ways). Slapping tariffs on items can easily start a trade war, and the US would lose in the long run, because I do not see Americans be willing to go back to what it was like when I was a kid in the 1980’s where certain fruits and vegetables were only available during certain times of the year. We have had access to stuff year round thanks to importing, but that could be coming to and end.
If you’re not Trumpists, why are your Trumpist relatives invited? Jeez, you political mingling families make me glad it’s just me and my girlfriend this year and neither of us was stupid or bigoted enough to vote for Trump.
Nah, they deserve it.
That whole tariffs thing is a buncha BS the left wing media feeds you and you eat it right up because “Orange Man Hurt My Feelings” What you don’t realize is that “Orange Man” is gonna turn this economy around. He’s gonna reduce the cost of living and put more money in our pockets like we had 5 years ago. He’s a business man for a reason. You may not like what he says and how he acts but think about your pockets and our national security. Talk about that instead of the brainwashed liberal jargon y’all eat up.

Also, inflation has affected everyone globally, not just those that have lived under the rule of Biden. You can’t fault this one man for a global economic crisis…
A 10% tariff will compound each time it changes hands resulting in the end customer paying 30% more. Also the median US manufacturing job pays $16.86. an hour. I say we let China keep their low pay jobs, and keep making affordable goods. America should focus creating jobs paying enough to get people out of poverty not putting them in it.
@copalolita Trump is very successful crook and his biggest achievement was to make people think he was a successful business man. Without his dad’s money, he would have been no one. He is also very lucky: thanks to Biden’s good economic policies, you might have more money in your pocket in the upcoming four years. But won’t be a surprise if Trumps screws that too.
