Today, I finally got my nametag. I had been using other people's names like Maria and Caie for a week, so I was happy to be called my own name. I put it on and got to work. Ten minutes later, I was called into the office. I got laid off. I got to wear my nametag for 10 minutes. FML

Today, I got fired from my job for harassing customers over the weekend. I didn't work over the weekend. I left my nametag there on Friday and my co-workers thought it would be funny to wear my nametag all weekend. One of them got into a fight with a customer and they took her 'name' down. FML

Today, I was running late for work. I forgot my name tag and work hat at home, but my boss is pretty laid back, so I wasn't worried about it. Five minutes into my shift, the district supervisor walked in for a surprise employee inspection. FML

Today, I had the Monday meeting that I have had every week for 8 months. We had new people joining today. One of my bosses went around the room introducing people, and he forgot my name. I've been sitting across from him with a nametag for 8 months. FML

This doesn't make sense - why would they go to the trouble of making you a nametag, that costs money, only to fire you once you put it on...? I call shenannigans

It sucks you got laid off...but the name tag thing is pretty irrelevant. I would think this was more of a FML if it simply said "today I lost my job." Who cares about the name tag...

It makes perfect sense that the company would order her a nametag and then lay her off a week later. They obviously didn't realize they couldn't afford to keep her until after they'd ordered the nametag. I'm a bit confused why she'd wear other people's though. It makes more sense to use one of those temporary nametags, you know those stickers that say "My name is ____." But anyway, good luck finding another job, OP!

Aww, that really does suck. Hey, you got a new shiny nametag. :D And #34, if she had just said she lost her job, then it probably wouldn't have been posted here. Lots of stories are about people losing their jobs--it's the different punchlines that get them on here. The fact that she lost her job right after receiving a new nametag makes it more interesting, I guess.

You got laid off and you're disappointed about the nametag? People, she got laid off, not fired. The company didn't necessarily plan it very far in advance.
