The devil

Today, I was working when an older lady came up to buy a coffee. Her son cried for a cup of whipped cream to snack on. She shook her head, silently telling me to say no. I said we were out. The mother took her drink and said, "I'm sorry honey, but the mean man said you couldn't have any." FML

wow sounds like one of those overbearing mothers that screw up their sons by spoiling them, making it impossible for any woman to be good enough for him when he grows up. a normal mom has the backbone to say no to her child.

naw u should have been like "sorry kid, but your granny says you cant have any" stupid lieing parents. i love coffee shops and people who work there ^.^

i hate people like that, it really ruins your day when shit like that happens you should of given the kid the whipped cream just to piss off the mum.

wow, she's a total bitchh...but hahahah :D

See, firstly, it's not a big deal. You're never going to see the kid or his mom again. But, if for some reason you did want to redeem yourself, you should've said something like, "Oh no, that's OK, here you go" and given him a double helping.

what? Not an FML. You're an idiot. If she doesn't have the backbone to stand up to her child, that's her business.

This is not an FML at all, the woman isnt even horrible, whipped cream is nice but basically just fat in a cup, so she wants her son to be healthy and not have it. If she said he couldnt have any because she wasnt letting him then he would probably have a tantrum and be sulky all day. If she blames the barrista then the boy gets angry at him for the 10 minutes they are in their buying the coffee. Its pretty clever of the woman, and NOT an FML. :/

You're right, the mother was okay when she had him say no, but it became NOT okay when she said the "mean man" said he could have any. He shouldn't be the bad guy.

She probably thought that would be cool because you were in on the ruse.

So what? You're never going to see them again and the mom was trying not to look like the bad guy. It happens all the time. Get over it.

The OP already gave the mom a perfect escape. "we're out of whipped cream... it's not my bad, it's not yours." Stupid bitch of a mom. People like that are the reason others don't want to give good customer service... do someone a favor and get your day ruined.

she was just saying that so the child wouldnt be sad! dont take it personally

Customers suck sometimes. So do bad parents. At least she's just some randomer you probably never have to see again!
