The devil

Today, I was working when an older lady came up to buy a coffee. Her son cried for a cup of whipped cream to snack on. She shook her head, silently telling me to say no. I said we were out. The mother took her drink and said, "I'm sorry honey, but the mean man said you couldn't have any." FML

wow sounds like one of those overbearing mothers that screw up their sons by spoiling them, making it impossible for any woman to be good enough for him when he grows up. a normal mom has the backbone to say no to her child.

you should've told the mom that you'll tell him the truth if she doesn't give you 5 big'ol smackeroo's

"Older" lady? How old was the son? Grandson? Never lie...

haha so true. my mom spoils me ALOT. which makes me mad at my dad when he days no

Err... How is this an FML? This happens to me all the time in retail. It's not the parent being rude to you, it's them being smart enough to know that if they say no their kid could very well throw a tantrum, but if an employee says no the kid is more likely to just accept it.

The point is, parents need to be firm when they say no to their child and they certainly shouldn't put someone else down as a way to explain themselves. Even if it does shut their kid up momentarily, it doesn't solve anything and it teaches the child nothing. The OP doesn't deserve this.

I agree with 60! I work at Starbucks now, but when I worked at Borders I'd get this shit all the time and it pissed me off. Don't use the random nearest employee as a boogie-man type person to get your child to behave.

oh boo hoo who cares it's a little kid who will have no impact in your life after that five minutes. I'd have smiled and given the kid a thumbs up after she said that

Play along and laugh about it to yourself. No big deal. If your feelings are stil hurt, go slurp up a cup of whipped cream.

Can you eat whipped cream by itself? I always stir it into my chocolate..

No, actually, you shouldn't eat whipped cream by itself because in that form it can be poisonous. Mixing it with other things dilutes/ neutralizes it, however.

when I worked in a coffee shop (in high school and college), we had kids ask for it all the time, and some older teens and adults too. I think they usually ate it with a spoon...seems a little weird to me, but apparently some people really enjoy the taste! lol

whipped cream by itself is not that bad actually...

After Thanksgiving/Christmas, we used to have cans of it for the pie...I think all on my brothers and sisters would sneak into the kitchen to spray it into our mouths. It's delicious!

as long as you're not eating whipped cream BY yourself...

YDI for caring what a small child who will never remember you thinks of you
