You get some characters on public transport. I am currently sitting on the train watching a man pick his nose and eat it. Not giving a single ****
Perhaps he is hungry?
Public transport is always interesting. I've seen a man almost screaming to the bus driver that the driver needed to pray and then God would make the bus driver's genetic condition go away because it was really a curse. I've also seem a woman correcting her children on proper behavior, which she considered to sing as loud as possible for the thirty minutes they were on the bus. OP is lucky that the interesting character went away shortly.
I once saw a man chase madly after a bus and then accidentally get his hands stuck on the poster that was on the bus... Ripping it off. Oh wait... That was Spiderman.
At least you weren't listening to music and he didn't take one of your earphones out to listen to your sounds. Consider yourself lucky!
Well 21, if he actually was on Mars, he'd be the only human on the whole planet. This could potentially make him so lonely that he'd hallucinate, and begin to "see people", and then it's actually quite likely that he could've seen the very same old man, and carried on a conversation with him, all within the confines of his lonely mind.
Maybe he was a pickpocket & was using his creepiness to distract you?
What is weird is that he left before finishing the story you guys were reading together. Perhaps he was a speed-reader?
Maybe he was just on speed, or some other exotic drug.
Those were the days.....*looks out in the distance towards the moonlight*
I'm sure if he had asked to read it with you, you might have said yes.
