If your chair is infested, it's more than likely the whole office is infested, tell your boss and get the place checked out by exterminators. For the meantime, stand, it's healthier than sitting anyway
Depends on what kind of job you do. I can't imagine standing up my whole shift in my office job. In the meantime, OP can just put some foil over the chair and seal it. But the problem should definitely be reported to boss !
Not jecessarily. I do this stuff for a living and it is all situational. OP could already have them at home and only just be noticing it, if it's a "shift" cubicle and it ends up being shared the posters cube-mate may be transferring them in, the chair might be rented by the office and a lot of tikes you get them from rented furniture or, like you said, a full infestation. What is important is that it is handled like a full infestation and that OP heats their laundry to 160 degrees for 45 minutes killing mature adults, nymphs and eggs.
if its bed bugs you need to through everything fabric that went with you into the highest temp wash you can to make sure they dont spread to your home. and i do mean everything, even your purse or wallet. they will hide in everything snd are near impossible to get rid of once you get them.
They would probably be better off incinerating the chair and getting a new one at that point
You should tell your boss. He/she can get sued for something like that
I got way to excited that this fml had no you deserved it(: But I'm sorry op
A perfect excuse to lie down and sleep away the shift. ??
Only 12 hours? That is enough time to have them get you a new chair or quit!
Does that qualify for unsafe working conditions? Sue em
It depends on where you work... I work in a group home- but since I am the supervisor, I spend most of my day at my desk. Bed bugs are pretty common in this setting. We haven't had them, but other homes have and we have to do a monthly sweep of the house to be sure...
No. Bed bugs technically don't pose any real threat to a person's health since they can't transmit diseases. That's why nothing is really being done about them. They're considered a nuisance, nothing more.
Time to buy a new mattress
Good plan! That way when the bed bugs living in other places in her bedroom reproduce they can infest the new mattress too! Throwing away money is great fun. No really, bed bugs live in anything from your furniture to your walls, from your clothing to your books. That's why they're such a nightmare. If it was as easy as replacing a mattress they wouldn't be a problem for most people.
Swap your chair wid ur nearest colleague..
With your* New to FML? (:
That won't do any good, their chair is more than likely infested too.
I know you're freaked out now, but I bet a good night's sleep will make you feel much better. Sleep tight! Don't let the... Wait...

The real FML is you are working more than 12 hours a day.
I really hope you've reported this to your work. You could carry them back to your place and then you're in for a costly de-bugging.
