When I was little, I asked my parents why certain letters of the alphabet were pronounced like they were. I asked "why is S pronounced ess? Why not oss? Or ass?" And my parents immediately freaked out and grounded me even though I had no idea that I had said a bad word. I remember being really upset and not understanding why they were so mad at me. Try to be a little more gracious than that if you decide to put a stop to it.
