There you are

Today, at an aunt's wake, my five year-old son walked up to the coffin, and, with the whole family around him, exclaimed, "Well that's good, I was wondering where she's been." FML

Kinda a win. Your son sounds like he'll be a funny stand up comedian. Kinda like Gilbert Gottfried. But you know, your son will not be annoying as ****.

Hell, when I was little and my grandmother died I kept saying "I smell dead people." at the wake. This isn't that bad.

He's just five. Shut the **** up.

Isn't he a little young to be at a wake?

That's sweet. He cares about her and wants to know where she is.

Oh, that's so sweet and innocent of him.

I was 5 at my first funeral and I said "why is everyone dressed up? is this a wedding?!"

At my great grandpa's funeral, my cousin loudly asked what was in the box. He was 3 and everyone understood that it was an innocent question. At least your son was concerned about her whereabouts.

I happen to think that's quite adorable and nothing to be upset about. he's only 5.

So when I read it I took what he said to mean as in oh good, I found her / finally found out what happened to her since I’ve been wondering where she’s been. Not as in, oh good I’m glad she’s there. Unless your family has a complete lack of a sense of humor I’m sure they’d be able to pardon a comment like that from such a young kid
