They think it's all over… it is now

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States - Colorado Springs

Today, I was refereeing a soccer match and I called a foul. An angry coach kept screaming at me, saying, "You're crazy!" I asked him to leave the field. As he left, he lifted his middle finger and screamed, "FUCK YOU!" I ref 5-year-olds. FML

What a fantastic role model. People need to realize that children pick up these things extremely easily. Set an example for them by behaving like you want them to.

Wow, they learned sportsmanship and vocabulary in one game! Who says sports don't build character?

I know exactly how you feel. This asshat felt that his only way to feel superior was to make the referee feel horrible. Try not and let it stop you. I'm sure you're a great referee

in my town, they will call the cops on any parent acting out like that at a kids sporting event, and if you are a coach, you sign a contract to not act like that while coaching he can get kicked out of the sport along with his child and not welcomed back, as well as they can prosecute him for breach of contract and sometimes even fine them $$$$ and heaven forbid if any parent shows up drunk, they will call the cops right away and be arrested for being drunk of school/city property. this is NOT how we act around the next generation.

I thought this only happens in movies...

Rule #47: If it was in a movie, some jackass will repeat it in real life.

I'm a referee also and coaches and sidelines can get crazy first things in AYSO fun fair safe .. plus at that age level scores dont count and sportsmanship is a must both players & coaches

Word of advice OP, the sport is to die for, (literally) people take that shit very seriously, so watch your back, as making a wrong call can land you in a hospital or even worse. (Some people are plain CRAZY so be careful, even if it's just 5 year olds)

I never understood the obsession over sports.

I love Football, but the fans. . . the fans erk me to bits. Let's just say I laugh when I see football fans crying over their lost team. I do however feel sorry for the players who actually worked hard to get to where they are.

Yeah I used to be a referee of football as well and to be honest I'm pretty sure yelling at the ref has become a part of the sports tradition
