I know exactly how you feel. This asshat felt that his only way to feel superior was to make the referee feel horrible. Try not and let it stop you. I'm sure you're a great referee
in my town, they will call the cops on any parent acting out like that at a kids sporting event, and if you are a coach, you sign a contract to not act like that while coaching he can get kicked out of the sport along with his child and not welcomed back, as well as they can prosecute him for breach of contract and sometimes even fine them $$$$ and heaven forbid if any parent shows up drunk, they will call the cops right away and be arrested for being drunk of school/city property. this is NOT how we act around the next generation.
Rule #47: If it was in a movie, some jackass will repeat it in real life.
Word of advice OP, the sport is to die for, (literally) people take that shit very seriously, so watch your back, as making a wrong call can land you in a hospital or even worse. (Some people are plain CRAZY so be careful, even if it's just 5 year olds)
Dayumm
Parents be crazy.
Yeah I used to be a referee of football as well and to be honest I'm pretty sure yelling at the ref has become a part of the sports tradition

What a fantastic role model. People need to realize that children pick up these things extremely easily. Set an example for them by behaving like you want them to.
Wow, they learned sportsmanship and vocabulary in one game! Who says sports don't build character?
