Time out

Today, I was in Starbucks with my daughter when she noticed a travel cup she liked. She picked one up and asked for it, but I said no because it was expensive. She angrily slammed it back into its stand and in the process, knocked over a display of ceramic mugs. I had to pay for each broken mug. FML

Assign money to chores, and have her do those extra chores till she works to pay it off herself. That's what my mom did! She taught me a very valuable lesson that way. Good luck op!

You know that unless they can show she intentionally destroyed them, you are actually under no obligation to pay for them, and it doesn't matter if they have a sign saying otherwise... do you also believe those signs that say "Vehicles damages by unattended shopping carts are not our responsibility"? lol

And that money should come out of what you'd spend on her for christmas

You need to speak to that manager. That's not the Starbucks way. Call the Latte hotline and tell them what happened. We had a customer once knock over a whole display, breaking lots of stuff. We swept it up and continued on our day. The manager/shift on duty would "mark" them out at her next convenience or at the end of the day.

Not sure how old your daughter is be she can't be little to do something like that. You need to start teaching her the value of money, otherwise you kind of deserve it.

Actually. If it's on display it's the shops responsibility if it gets broken. Thus you should not have to pay.

i kinda feel like its karma right there...

I would make her slowly pay for it either with cash or chores.

This is why you tell kids not to touch anything smack her hand next time and tell her no and be done with it. You won't have to pay for broken crap
