'Tis the season to be jolly, falalala lala la la

Today, my mom hung her new "Christmas Clock" on the wall. It plays a different Christmas carol every hour, on the hour. It's only December 2nd and I'm already starting to understand why suicide rates sky rocket this time of year. FML

My work plays Miley Cyrus Christmas songs. I work 8 hour shifts...

Here's a thought, get out of the house more often. I have one of those too, except it's every hour not every half hour. It's not even that loud, so don't say it interrupts sleep.

This might be a crazy thought, but is it possible you could have a rational discussion with your mom about this? Maybe say something to the accord of 'Mom I know you love your Christmas music but isn't the clock just a bit much, or something? Just Saying.....

Bah humbug! No, that's too strong, 'cause it's my favorite holiday.

Although I agree that sucks, it's more than a little rude to joke about suicide like that...

That is not the reason. Some people's families completely disregard them and they get depressed. However if that is YOUR reason i hope you feel better

Urban legend, suicide rates actually go down around Christmas.

Tell her to take it down and put it up again a couple weeks if it bothers you that much. If she isn't a bitch, she'll understand.

OP I feel your pain: My mother bought the exact same thing; a Christmas clock that plays a different Christmas carol on the hour, every hour. You're not alone.

There's no increase in suicide rates during the holiday season; the Mayo Clinic did a 35-year study on suicide and found no such correlation. Still, I sympathize with your situation. "Novelty" is a euphemism for "tacky and annoying" more often than not.

We have that same goddamn clock... It makes me want to shove candy canes in my ears.
