Today, a co-worker and I walked out of our office at the same time. He got in his car, which was parked right out front. I asked him what I had to do to get a sweet parking spot like that. He rolled up his pant leg and show me his prosthesis. He was in the handicapped spot. FML

So what your trying to say is that while it may have been physically easier for him, you wanted to show him you could put your foot in your mouth too?

How is that an FML? From what you wrote he wasn't mad... why would he be? You didn't say anything rude... He was most likely entertained by the question. I would be (if I had a prosthesis that is). @53 Nicely put!

@21, they must have REALLY good prostetics...

I know a lot of people with prosthetic limbs, and for the most part you wouldnt know it unless you are looking for it. So funny, but dont feel bad. @21, You are absolutely correct, about the only way to tell is to study their gait.

its not a big deal really, you could've used it as a conversation starter

I think this co-worker would way more offended if you treat them differently now that you know about the prosthesis.

My old patrol leader had a prosthetic, It was hard to tell until he rolled up his leg.

honestly, he's probably glad that it's not obvious...I don't even have anything seriously wrong with me, but I get someone every week asking why I'm limping and if I'm OK...it's a pain.
