Today, a customer threw his cup of coffee at me screaming that it wasn't hot enough. Well, maybe it wasn't hot enough for him, but it was sure hot enough to burn me. FML

If there was damage to you or your property (burns), you could press charges. That's assault, he should be forbidden to come into the coffee shop where you work from now on. That'll show him to have a temper tantrum over a cup of coffee.

that is assault and battery with intent. The guy can be put up for criminal charges as well as the civil charge. Coffee can give second to third degree burns which are nasty(she would have needed skin grafts for that). She could not only be compensated for medical costs but for other damages. While i do not like law suits and think thy clog up the system. This could have needed up with serious damage.

Don't listen to the people who keep posting that you should throw coffee back at him, that would make you just as juvenile. Be an adult call the police, behavior like that shouldn't be tolerated in our society and he should be shown there are consequences to his actions. If he leaves before you call, have someone grab his license plate number. Every time he does something like this and isn't punished it just reinforces his behavior and ensures he will do it again.

I've gotta say, I've had stuff thrown at me during my job too, but damn, I would have actually screamed and lost it if a customer threw a hot drink at me. Definitely try and get that bastard back. What a complete asshole.

thats why id never be able to work at a place like that. id never be able to be nice to the mean customers... id probably end up gettin fired for losing my temper an telling one to shut the **** up an leave
