Today, a customer threw his hot coffee all over me, because it was taking "too long" for their credit card to be approved. FML
I agree, your life sucks 48 105
You deserved it 3 234

cwl727 tells us more.

So I am doing a follow up on this because for some reason a different name was put as the author, I have contacted FML about it. This happened about 2 years ago when I worked at a theme park in Orlando. The guy was buying tickets and I told him that the computer told me I had to call the credit card company. I asked if he wanted me to use a different card and he said no and was fine with me calling to get authorization. I was on hold with the company and it was taking too long for him. He started complaining and I told him I was on hold but instead of calming down he threw his coffee on me. It was not scorching hot but it was hot enough that it did burn a bit. Security came over and escorted him off the premises and he is now banned from the entire company's property. I didn't sue in fact it was just another story to tell my friends and family.

I think that qualifies as assault. Take his grumpy ass to court!

Please tell me you took him to the hospital with you?

Unless they're a doctor, you shouldn't expect people to have patience.

So the Doctor shouldn't be patient while doing surgery?

Could be kinda tricky, though I suppose he could use a mirror....

I hope you chewed him out.. I know workers are supposed to be nice even if a customer is an ass, but that's just crazy..

293 YDI ?can someone explain??! some stupid people out here. sorry OP, this is terrible, hope you're alright

sorry OP..he already threw coffee..what's left is to throw a lot of money on you to get over with assault case

It was a long time ago that I worked retail (1980s) but back then, when a CC auth request came back "Call" rather than "Declined", typically it was because the card was stolen or had been flagged as possible fraud by the bank.

When we had to call it was usually because of the amount of money that was being spent raised flags with the bank.

Good thing it wasn't scorching hot or this FML could've been a lot worse

I once had a guy come into the convenience store I used to work at and saw it was full of two school busses worth of a marching band. He jumped the line, asked how long the wait would be, and then got pissed off. The band kids let the guy cut every single one of them once he was ready, he was in and out in about three minutes while some of them were in there almost 45 minutes. He still had the audacity to call and complain to my manager the next day due to the "slow" service speed. Luckily I'd told her about the situation beforehand and she told the guy to **** off, in a slightly more professional manner. People just totally suck and think they're entitled to whatever.

those credit card authorizations can take, what feels like, forever! Still no reason to behave in such an aggressive manor. glad you're ok

When I worked in a service station we used to have the same problem with the fuel cards if it went over a certain amount or if it was used a couple of times that day already. It happened quite commonly with our local ambulance crew and a haulage contractor who was filling up a couple of his vans at the same time. It was to ensure that the card had not been stolen and being used fraudulently.

Yeah I have had some crazy things happen like people just walking out and screaming and yelling over having to wait in line
