AwkwardHaole808 tells us more.
My friend isn't suffering from depression. She told me she did this stunt because she couldn't get the package that she wanted and that this would "show her parents". Also, yes this doesn't affect me nearly as much as it does her or her loved ones. However, I am her friend and don't want to lose a good friend over something so small.

I think her parents need to overreact and send her to the psych ward for a while. Bet she wouldn't pull that bs again.
Honestly, I don't think that would be an overreaction. Think of this in terms of the alternatives. 1. Call her bluff. She'll either kill herself (bad outcome) or she wont. Most parents wouldn't chance that. 2. Give in and get her what she wants (bad outcome). She'll learn that manipulation works. Committing her to a psych ward with suicide watch for a week lets her know that her parents take those threats seriously and the consequences may not what she was expecting. It's like choice 1 without waiting to see if she'll kill herself.
Exactly 71. Call her bluff... By treating it as seriously as possible. That way she knows her parents care but that her actions have real world consequences. Though suicide watch tends to be a 3 day commitment, so she might be getting that already.
I was stupid like that once. I wanted my parents to leave me alone so I ran into a bathroom with a knife. Not sure what the **** I was thinking but it sure as hell didn't work. My ass got escorted via police to the wacky shack and I never did that shit again.
I meant more like "overreact" as in the daughter is overreacting so as punishment they should "overreact" and do exactly what you said.
What a spoiled brat! Tell her get a job and help her parents out!
get her help at a boot camp I mean really threatening to kill herself over not getting something that's not right real suicidal people the people who are depressed aren't lucky to have friends like you op trust me I was the bullied lonely kid in school and I almost did it until my sister Paige brought a beautiful new born baby girl to meet me eight years later I'm happy to call her my niece Avery
ever heard of punctuation?
Dammit, I knew that would catch up with me.
Shit, I'd call them on it. Give them a box with a knife, a gun, and a note that says "your move". Evolution in action.
And this is a FYL why...?
You need new friends. That's pathetic.
As a person who was depressed and suicide its really insulting to see that someone is ok with pulling a stunt like that just because they didnt get what they want. For people like that you should smack them with the bat of commonsense and smack some respect into them real hard repeatedly
It's about time that your friend leans that you don't always get what you want. It might be a bitter pill to swallow, but she needs to bite the bullet and jump down to reality.
So why is it an FML? Is it because you feel left out now? You could do something stupid and crazy ( or not, as your friends case has shown) and be one with your friend. I think I'll read this FML from you pretty soon: Today, my friend sneezed and I didn't :(, FML.

Since it was a stunt, it's pretty obvious that she's spoiled. She's gonna get a hard smack in the face from reality when she graduates and is out on her own. I hope you told her what she did was extremely selfish and stupid. Because it obviously affected more than just her parents.
I guess you could say that that had a killer price tag. No? i didn't think so... I'll show myself to the dog house.
