Today, a great job I have been wanting to apply for opened for applications. Turns out it requires a clean background with no credit issues. I recently got a notice saying my wife and I are being sued over an unpaid $140 medical bill that she neglected to pay. FML

If you pay it post-haste and talk to the parties involved, they may simply drop the suit without it getting into your check.

FYL OP, She's ruining both your credit. :/

Medical bills aren't considered bad history. Please check Experian rules and terms

Apply for it anyway. If you get to the point of needing the background check, dispute the medical bill. They will remove it for 30 days while the dispute is being processed. As long as the background check goes through before the 30 days are up, you'll be in the clear.

It doesn't automatically exclude you from getting the position ! Secondly your wife needs to be more responsible, because things like this can hurt your credit score. And that Leander's frown upon.

OP the employee is openly discriminating against your situation

immediately call the attorney and pay the full bill then you need to complain to the original doctor that he didn't Bill you correctly so that you could pay it next you need to dispute the item on your credit report you will have to do that with all three agencies Equifax Experian and TransUnion it can all be done online actually first you need to pull all three credit reports to see what's on them annualcreditreport.com
