Today, a group of guys came into my restaurant, dressed up in some kind of role-playing game clothing. Apparently I pronounced one of their fake elf names wrong, because the guy complained to my manager, who then bitched me out in front of everyone for upsetting the customers. FML

The OP deserved it for pronouncing the fake names of some overly butthurt geeks wrong? Oh dear is this the mindset of some people?

I'd have a hard time pronouncing narr'el'qeqqebdianlir too

Managers an idiot and so is the guy who complained. I might be a bit of a nerd but I wouldn't get upset over something so stupid.

"leela". Cool Futurama reference. =)

"ADTR" Cool shitty music reference.

These people can be called Live Action Role Players or Cosplayers. Some of them are a bit over the top fanatics; don't worry about them. They should have told you their fandom and welcomed you to join them one day and not complained about it.

Sheldon cooper is awesome though. These guys just seem like assholes just because they want to be.

OP you werent by any chance in Raleigh North Carolina working at mcdonalds by the convention center were you? if so that would make this even more hilarious!

I'd blame it on your manager, more than the LARPers. Some of us have a snooty OCD character, but aren't like that IRL. Other's have really happy, bouncy characters, but might live serious lives overwhelmed by corporates. It might sound just like a make-believe nerdy game, but most so-called "normals" could use getting away a for a day every once in a while too. Sometimes you just don't want to live your life 24/7 anymore, why should you have to. That was probably just a character trait. :P

But "Lord" or "Lady" is always a good choice when you aren't 100% sure of the pronunciation.

Just let it go, don't be so bitter about it.
