After thinking for a bit, I eventually thought he was kind of cute even though the line was absolutely awful, but he had good intentions so I faked a smile, not wanting to hurt his feelings. Oh, and I'm so happy that it's published!

Some guys like to put girls down who normally wouldn't go for them, and then give them a compliment, so the girl is grateful to have his approval after all. Not a good sign!

#36, it really scares me when I see young women say something like that. Treating someone with this much disrespect and trying to undermine their self-esteem to get your way is a good indicator that he will get emotionally or physically abusive later, or at the very least that he will be a total piece of shit of a person to have around. Relationships are supposed to make you feel loved, liked, and respected, not worse about yourself. This isn't cute, and I really hope that you don't go for men like that. You deserve better.
