Today, a homeless man asked me for some change. Not having any cash, I gave him a gift card for the restaurant I work at. When I got home I realized I gave him my credit card. FML

op here. it's always cool when your FML gets posted because in a weird way it makes the situation a little bit better lol. just some clarification, i started this job a little over a month ago and when i went to the orientation, they gave us $15 dollar gift cards. it was after a 9 hour shift when this sweet old man asked for some change. i remembered i had this gift card in my wallet for a month now and figured he would benefit from it more than i would. i was tired and it was dark outside, but i should have payed more attention. once i realized this mistake i quickly went back to my work, and luckily he was still there. he was very sweet and figured i handed him the wrong card, i gave him the right card and now everyones happy. i'm just glad it was him because god knows what any other person would have done with it.

We all are a little air-headed at times, but that's a bit much.

That's awesome that you were able to get that worked out and that he was honest enough to realize the mistake and not take advantage of it. l Definitely restores some faith in humanity for me. :)

The homeless guy thought you were so generous!

wake up dude ,do u have a credit card ?

At least you realized it that same day. I'm curious did the man make any purchases?

I've heard of people giving a dollar. or a hundred. but never putting a homeless person in charge of your credit score.

Still wondering how you got the two mixed up. Were you paying any attention at all? Sucks, OP.

Despite the rap they get a lot of homeless people are very nice. I'm glad this worked out for you.

I love that this is how it turned out. This follow up made my day.

That's so nice of him! :D I'm happy it ended well.

Thanks, OP for telling us the rest of the story :) Hope it shows all the people who put negative comments that NO, not all homeless people/people who are begging for money are bad. A lot of them are actually nicer and more respectful than "wealthy" people 'cause they know what it's like to be in trouble and they don't want others to be in their situation...

Faith in humanity restored! God bless

Wow how honest. I love when people are like that.

I made an account finally just to reply to this FML. I would love to say I was amazed at the people who thought the homeless man was dishonest, but sadly that's just how the world is. It must have been a frightening mistake to make, and it was good on the homeless man for his honesty. Yes he could have spent the card, but he chose the high road. That was still awesome of you to do. Good on you!

Glad to hear it all got worked out! (And glad you got your card back!)

That might be the best change he received in a decade

Glad you fixed your problem that could have gone terribly
