That's funny ... what a moron!
I sometimes wear my work uniform while shopping, and people will sometimes think that I work there simply because I'm wearing a uniform even if it doesn't even remotely resemble what the employees there are wearing. There was this one time when I was standing in a very long line at a Spirit Halloween store, and naturally I was in my work uniform because I stopped in there on my way home. My uniform is a maroon polo shirt with a black smock, and black cotton pants. Their uniform is just an orange or black t-shirt that says Spirit Halloween on the front of it... But anyway, this lady behind me started freaking out about the line and I just shrugged, not realizing that she was actually addressing me to do something about it and then demanded to speak to my manager. I told her I didn't work there and she sarcastically responded with, "Oh really?" as though she didn't believe me, and I held out to her the part of my work shirt that had the logo of my workplace embroidered, and then I said sure, I'll give you my work phone number and you can speak to my manager, but I'm pretty sure she'll just tell that it's not my problem and that you should probably stop harassing me. lol

That's more of a HDI, I would've been laughing my ass off at him if I were you, OP, don't take it too seriously.
Next time make sure you aren't wearing red and khaki when you shop at target.
