Today, a stray dog came up to my living room window. My pitbull went into attack mode and tried to jump through said window, while it was closed. Now I have to pay to replace the window, and pay to get stitches for my idiot dog. FML

Thats not true. Like all dogs, it depends on the training. My aunt has a pitbull and it's one of the sweetest dogs I've met.

A chuhuahua can be just as mentally vicious as a pitbull, in fact those little bitches will bite your toes off, but when they do it, it's cute. If a pitbull did the same thing, he's probably have to be put down. Double standards? Yes. And it's pretty damn obvious considering those loving canines are banned from the UK. It's time to unite and fight breedism, their time is now.

He was just trying to protect you.

This is why you should have curtains and have taken you dog to obedience school. This is a good reason for BSL. Please do some serous retraining with your dog OP.

I guess I need to work on retraining my cat since she hisses, spits, and slams into the window when another animal passes by outside. It's called being territorial, its instinct for animals.

My friend has a pit bull. This dog is a crazy hyper, untrained and unsocialized meat head. Because of their strength and high energy they require a competent dog owner. Now the dog is banished to the back yard and languishing cause he is too lazy to train her, and gets mad when she tears stuff up inside. He only wanted her in the first place cause she is a pit bull and always brags about how strong pits are...etc I feel sorry for his dog.

I'm not normally in favor of criminal activities but it sounds like you should arrange a dog kidnapping & arrange it to look like an escape. Then get the poor dog to a pit bull rescue. Hopefully your friend will be too lazy to look for her. Kept like she is she's a time bomb waiting to go off.

@178 please, ditch this horrible, irresponsible friend of yours. I hate knowing that these kind of people exist.

You need to report your so called "friend" for animal neglect. No dog should have a life like that.

We have a Kangal (originally bred for guarding flocks). He is very gentle with small kids and animals which is why we got him but very protective. I can hear him pacing the house at night, looking out the windows for intruders. And his bark is very intimidating. Due to his massive size (174lbs) we had him sent to a professional dog trainer for 4 weeks in Arvada, CO before we brought him home. My daughter says he looks like a polar bear.

Why would you get a pit bull in the first place? They are actually not allowed in some towns. With a pit bull it's only a matter of time before they chew someone's face off even a family member. They're psych dogs and ugly too.....

Pitbulls are usually only as violent as their trainers. You generally don't have to worry about them being "psych dogs" unless they were actually trained to be aggressive.

Ignorant commenters please keep to yourselves.

That is BS. Pitbulls are only aggressive if they're trained to be by their owners. They were once known as "nanny dogs" because they were great with children and in family settings. Learn something before spouting off like an idiot next time.

Get the dog whisperer to train your dog to not attack other dogs

"ATTACK MODE" ? it sounds like your dog is a war tank..

Maybe it's just me. But I don't think pitbulls are the best dog..

Pitbulls are dangerous dogs, they are banned over here. Take it to dog classes or get the vet to give it a sedative if it goes into 'attacl mode'

I work in the veterinary field and have seen many different kinds of dogs. I agree chihuahuas can be very mean but they are atleast predictable. I have four friends that own pitbulls and say the same thing. All dogs can be aggressive and its all in the training and how you treat the dog. I do agree the dogs can be very nice and are well trained but I have seen all four of them snap unpredictably. One of the owners is also in the process of becoming a professional dog trainer. I have never seen another type of dog snap like that, all other breeds that I have encountered that were aggressive were predictable and easier to control. I personally do not trust them. Also people call me ignorant for not trusting me but honestly the people preaching about them are ignorant especially when their dog snaps on someone.
