It's not that the OP or all the people in Hong Kong were doing it wrong they were just doing it differently than how the white people were taught, sheesh. There goes more American imperialism for you. "You are different therefore you are wrong."

I think what you're saying is actually true. Chinese people use chopsticks differently from Koreans. Maybe it's just the way they use it. All ways could be correct. There's no universal method for using chopsticks as long as your using it and eating with it. It's like a pencil. I notice my artist friend hold a pencil holds a pencil differently, and some other other people may hold a pencil another way too. As long as the pencil can write, no harm done. Ive seen white people use a chopstick differently from me.

I think the OP was offended because a guy who only started using chopsticks to empress the cute Asian girls at a restaraunt and this person has been taught how to use them by people who invented them! It's like David Caradine telling Bruce Lee he has been doing Kung Fu wrong or Fabian telling Little Richard he doesn't know how to play rock 'n roll. Or Japanese baseball player telling an American player you are playing the game incorrectly, it was invented in America! Damn.

seriously guys, maybe OP is just like every other (ok almost) Chinese. Im chinese too, and i do know that the PROPER way to use chopsticks, but i dont know how to do it. maybe this white boy knew the proper way, and this chinese guy KNEW how to use chopsticks, just in a different way. nothing much of an FML, unless u decide that u wanna learn how to use chopsticks the PROPER way. in any case, no need to make a big fuss =)

I agree, my best friend is Chinese and she has openly confessed that she doesn't hold hers the PROPER way. It works for her so what does it matter if I'm White and I told her how to hold them properly!

i can hold chopsticks the right way (: i know how to hold them the 'improper' (scissor-like) way but it's easier for me to use it the right way
