Today, after 3 years at my job I received a 14% raise. I was informed I will be transitioned from hourly to salary. I will now be making $1500 LESS than I made last year. FML

Start stealing office supplies and sell them on the black market to regain the money you lost. It's the only way, I'll pray for you.

At least you have a job, and are still making money.

Ahh the joys of Salary. Its awesome making 14$/Hr at 45k a year^^ I hope you get really good benefits...

Dang, you make $45k a year at only $14 an hour? I only make $10 an hour and barely scrape by with $18k at the end of the year, full-time, before taxes.

Meh, hard to judge without knowing more details. Most likely, OP now gets vacation days, health benefits, perhaps stock options, etc, in exchange for not being paid overtime. This is pretty standard business for someone going to salary IMO.

common practice when you are moving from a contract position into full time. contract workers typically get paid every week with no benefits, paid sick days or paid vacation whereas full time employees get paid biweekly - prompting mr tax man to collect more since your paychecks amount to more - and also you now have to pay your company for the benefits, paid sick days and paid vacation time out of what you earn. Sucks to be a full time employee!

That depends on how common that practice really is. I've been doing contract work for the past two years, and I only make $10/hr as a lab technician. I get one written paycheck at the end of the month, full-time, no benefits, no paid leave or vacation, no raise to date, still paying into college loans, and somehow still owing taxes at the end of the fiscal year. They really love to stick it to the unmarried, kid-less workers.

You should shoot the place up. Btdubbs spending 3 years with a company is no huge milestone
