I'm sure I'm going to get thumbed down for this, but you're not getting paid to sleep on company time. Use some stimulants. There's a reason there's a coffee/tea pot in pretty much every office in the developed world. Coffee, energy drinks, caffeine pills, there's a way to get through until lunchtime, then a powernap and a light meal. Power your way through until you're off the clock and catch up on your own time.
Caffeine pills on no sleep are a really bad idea. If you follow the directions you'll be fine, but most people I know who use them don't. Probably better to fall asleep at your desk (or better yet, stay home) than have an overdose at work.
I've been using caffeine pills for decades. The most common dosage I've seen in five provinces, nine states and Mexico was 100mg, though there are certainly extra strength versions available. . The average cup of coffee is about 130mg. So long as you check the dosage on the bottle, the rule of thumb is essentially four pills equals three 8oz cups of coffee. Or a little more than one venti. They're only really worse for you if you're washing them down with caffeinated beverages,
You're lucky your boss didn't just wheel you out the door and leave you on the sidewalk. Desk chairs are kind of expensive, though.
The expense could have been taken out of OP's severance pay.
Don't fall asleep at work, you deserved it.
You should have taken an antihistamine or some NyQuil...or if your arms were not tapped down you can peel at the tape or grab a pair of scissors...
Somehow this post seems like one of the missing chapters of 50 Shades of Grey, and one of the only things that would have made said book interesting.
Talk about a heavy sleeper!! Duct taped to your desk?!? That sounds more like a coma!! Haha
That's why you should always carry a knife with you...
...so it can sit helplessly in your pocket while your arms are taped to a chair?

Well, I can see how this can be unfair. However, you shouldn't be falling asleep at work. Energy drink!
You're at a desk, just use scissors or a letter opener to get free from the tape. Then after work, meet your coworkers in the parking lot with duct tape and wheely chairs and push them out into traffic. >:)
