Today, after an entire year spent in physical therapy recovering from three knee surgeries, I finally returned to doing light agility exercises and running on a treadmill. When I told my therapist I had never been so happy and proud, he responded with, "This usually only takes 5 months, pussy." FML

Today, after a month and a half of recovering from a sprained ankle, I was back in the gym training. After a grueling, sweaty session on the treadmill, I tripped walking down the stairs which sprained my other ankle. Back to round one. FML

Today, I was finally able to come home after 4 months in a hospital recovering from brain surgery and physical therapy. While taking a walk around the neighborhood, my new neighbor's Rottweiler ran after me. I tripped while running, got bit, and went back to the hospital for stitches. FML

Today, I'm celebrating one year of retirement. Also, almost one year of recovering from a broken leg, quickly followed by a broken hip. I may never walk correctly again. FML

Today, I was discharged from the hospital after having scrotal surgery. When I got home, the anesthetic had worn off, but I felt okay. Then my dog jumped up at me, paws slamming straight into my nuts. FML

Today, after spending two hard months losing 20 pounds of my 80 pound goal, I was actually excited to exercise. After I was done exercising, I fell down the stairs and broke my ankle. FML

Today, I finally got my son to go for a run. He broke his neck 4 months ago and has been playing video games the entire time. I was a competitive runner once and run everyday. He kicked my ass, 21 minutes for the first 5k and he sped up. He was back playing video games when I finally got home. I think I lost a lung on the trails. FML

Today, I was getting ready for work. When I stepped back, my ankle rolled and my fat ass landed on it with my foot sideways under me. Now I’m in a boot for 6 weeks and have 6 weeks of physical therapy ahead of me. FML

Today, I had a swollen knee, and was slowly limping to the toilet. All of a sudden, my mom ran past me, beating me to it. As she closed the door, she said, "AT LEAST I CAN RUN!" FML

Today, I completed my 6-month training program for a track competition this weekend. I went to the park to run anyways because I needed some air after my boyfriend broke up with me. After one lap, my neighbor's 130 lb dog ran across the soccer field and jumped on me to say hi. My leg is broken. FML

I think it's funny how your therapist said it USUALLY takes about 5 months. This means that every once in awhile, a patient might take a longer/shorter amount of time to recover than that. Also, isn't he getting more money from you the longer you have to see him? Your physical therapist is a certified dick.

Don't worry OP, not everyone recovers the same. You know when you're getting better more then he does and if you had returned to early it would be no good to potentially ruin your knee again. Take it easy and good luck on the recovery.

I'm in PT after 2 shoulder surgeries within 4 months. I ask LOTS of questions, like, "How long should recovery take? How am I doing in comparison to others with similar surgeries?"

The guy is a douche. People recover at their own pace, in physical therapy. How unprofessional ! Why don't you put his bills at the bottom of the pile and see if you can start working with a new therapist that doesn't demean his patients.

Very similar to my therapist. After two shoulder surgeries and a finger fracture he tells me I'm young so suck it up. Congrats on recovery though, it's always tough getting back into shape
