Today, after buying over $300 worth of food and alcohol, I found out all my friends aren't coming to my New Years party but headed to the BIG party at the local club. The one which I sold my ticket to after my friends convinced me to throw a party instead. FML

Your friends are serious assholes, and that's a really shitty thing they did. It sounds like they almost planned it that way. I'd say throw the party anyway...invite family, neighbors, whoever the hell else you can think of. Open invitation, cheers to new friends! =]

when they come over next time eat the stuff and tell them to pay you for it if they want any

Just because they are "friends" on facebook doesn't mean they are friends. You kids really think that you can have double digit friends?

That is a FYL, not a YDI. How awful! Way back, a few years after graduating high school, I planned to go to Cedar Point with some friends. We'd bought tickets, planned a month ahead and I'd requested the weekend off work and was WAY excited. One weekend before, another friend ca lled and said there was an emergency and she HAD to go out of town, couldn't find a sitter, needed me to help, etc. She sounded frantic, but I reluctantly decided I couldn't go to Cedar Point so I gave the ticket to one of the friends going and said to invite a friend. Turns out, "Friend" with the emergency caught wind of the trip, was mad she wasn't invited and lied to me. They all went on the trip while I was stuck with the kids. So I've been there, sort of.

instead of saying FML, say FMF. they're not worth your time.

Haha. That's pwnage in a nutshell. They're not your friends though. Throw yourself a party instead. If they try to collect on YOUR booze in any way, blow 'em off.

New Year's Resolution #1: Learn a lesson from this. Those weren't friends. New Year's Resolution #2: Find new friends, real ones this time. New Year's Resolution #3: Hold your head high, take the high road next time you run into those people. Don't create a scene, remain calm and walk away.
