Today, after declining an amazing job offer that pays more than double what I make now in order to accept a promotion my boss offered me if I stayed, I asked when I would receive the promotion and pay raise. She snorted and said, "You thought I was serious about that?" FML

Should have taken the other job. I doubt your promotion would have doubled your salary

It may not be too late: check if you can still get the offer for the other job.

Got to look out for yourself. Bosses don't care about their employees. And in your case, yours is a filthy liar.

You should've taken the other job offer in the first place since you knew what it had to offer. FYL though, your boss shouldn't have pulled something like that.

More than double? You think your promotion would get higher than more than double?! Ydi.

Maybe the job wasn't as easy to get to or not as close to her family she dosent deserve it.

HE does kind of deserve it. But it still sucks that HIS boss was that much of a jerk. People like that just make me want to punch them.

It's not always just about the money. Sometimes there are other aspects that can weigh on the decision, such as relocation, commute, travel, hours, responsibility, knowledge, and vending machine stock.

Always get promises like this in writing... nobody's word means anything anymore. If it isn't on paper, it's probably not going to happen!

Look, you gotta realize that you have all the leverage in that situation. ALWAYS ask for anything about a raise/promotion/offer in writing so you can, hold the company to it.

Or knock her out. Or rip her skin off and use it as toilet paper :D

But then you would be in jail, not making any money.

legally you can bring her to court. when you signed for the job, there's always a line that says something like "...no assumption of out of context clauses". bring her to court, and get yo money!

If u live in the us, u can take him to you court over that. You turn down the job and good safe because of what he promised to give you . There actually quite a few laws that protects you from him doing that to you

Sorry 24, I was typing mine when u posted

If I were you, I would've demanded for the promotion and the payraise right then and there for the boss to prove that they were telling the truth from the start before having declined the job offer.
