Today, after doing tons of research on a wand my little brother wanted for Christmas, I finally found one on eBay for $60. After already giving my credit card info and confirming the purchase, my dad called me and told me he found the exact same one for six bucks at a local toy store. FML

You should have checked Diagon Alley

You just broke a rule! You're not supposed to reveal the existence of magic to muggles. You're going to get yourself thrown into Azkaban.

Harry Potter wands cost about $30. This is in the online shop of the theme-park in Orlando, and the online shop of the WB studio tour in London (which is in pounds, but it's £24 I think, so also about $30.) Obviously you didn't do "tons of research" since those are two of the most "popular" websites to buy stuff. It's also weird that your dad found the same one for $6 :/ was it really the same one? Because there are also pens which look like a wand..

Those wands are made with plaster and op more than likely avoided buying them if his little brother wanted to run around playing with it

His little brother doesn't have to be "little". The OP could be 23 and his brother 16 or something. Maybe his brother just wants it to admire and collect, not to actually play with. I do get what you're saying, but I've never seen a wand that's actually made to play with :/

I doubt the one from the toy store is the exact same as the one op found online. I bet if his brother were to play with them both, the $6 one would probably break first. Of course there is a chance that the seller bought it for $6 and is just ripping you off, but that seem an extremely high price even for a rip off. Op you could give him one and save the other one in case the first one breaks. If your brother is actually using it as a toy then (depending on his age) there is a good chance it may break within the next year or two.

Depending on where you live, you can request a refund and not have it sent if you did it within the required time frame (here its a week) by law. Or you can do a dodgy and say it was an accidentally purchase

you could have referenced to the big bang theory episode ..where Raj buys the magic wand from eBay...

Had a similar thing happen to me. Contact the seller; they're usually willing to cancel the order for you in exchange for positive feedback.

I doubt the $6 one is exactly the same as the $60 one. You probably found him a way better gift.

Well, maybe the one you ordered will be better quality and last longer than the one your dad found.

$60.00 verse $6.00. Might not be the same wand. Eitehr way. $60.00 for a stick? I have a gold mine in my yard.

maybe if its not too late you could give it too those charities that give stuff to people in need you might make a little boy's day
