Today, after having my tonsils removed, I coughed so hard in my sleep that I woke up spitting blood. Turned out I'd ripped my throat. They had to put me to sleep and cauterize the damaged area. Now I'm in even worse pain than before. FML

Ouch! At least you woke up instead of choking to death on your own blood OP, but the pain must be unbearable. You have my sympathy.

they tell you that you can have all the ice cream you want. But it was the last thing I wanted because it curdled in the back of my throat. Having tonsils out is miserable

Yep, Ice cream burns like Hell after this surgery. But its better to have the tonsils removed in the long run. Feel better soon.

I had a similar experience, however I deserved it. I went to a offspring/bush concert, and screamed so loudly that I ripped my own stitches out. Am I think only one who thnks that "put me to sleep" was a bit off?

Ouch, I feel your pain OP. When I had my tonsils out I kept throwing up and re-opening the scabs. Just keep taking your medications and you'll be better soon!
