Today, after holing myself up in my room for the day, I eventually turned my phone back on and told my girlfriend that my grandma passed away today. She replied, "Ask me if I fucking care," then accused me of not caring about our relationship because I went offline all day. FML

If she can't respect your family, dump her ass

So sorry about your loss and you can do so much better, your (hopefully ex-)girlfriend sounds like a very inconsiderate person!

Ah the grandma past away excuse. Now follow this up and say if you were just hiding I've if that's true ;)

The proper response here was a hug, a cuddle, a milkshake, or understanding. You're there for the shoe and makeup and clothes crisis. I'm female and I don't understand why running out of lipgloss either. But it upset her. She needs to be there for your crisis. If she can't do that, she doesn't respect you.

Time to get a new GF, your current one sucks.

Proof that not only men can be insensitive... Good luck in finding a new GF mate, and sorry for your loss

If she has no respect for you family she has none for you. Kick her ass out of your life. There are good people out you just have to look harder. Good luck

Have this conversation with her. OP: "Do you need a band aid?" GF: "Why?" OP: "Because you just got cut! GTFO"

If you're adjusted to talking with someone almost constantly having them dissapear for the day is seriously stressful. This kind of implies he didn't warn her, which is a tad mean itself. Although once he told her why the sitution could have been handled better. Communication, you two do not have it

Finally after scrolling a little thru all these opinions that the girl was a bitch, someone else shares my view.

Would it have been that hard for OP to send a single text? His girlfriend was probably upset all day. Yes, what she said was unnecessary harsh, but OP doesn't walk out without blame either. He might be hurt, but that doesn't mean he has to hurt the people around him by blatantly ignoring them.

OP bears no blame for being distressed after losing a family member. She had no right to act like a snobby **** either.
