Today, after selling their car, my parents decided to inform me that my car (that I paid for myself) is now going to be the "Family Car". They also informed me that since it is, after all, my car, I'll still have to pay for the gas and maintenance. FML

If my parents did that to me I'd tell them they can either start contributing to gas and maintenance or they can start finding other ways to travel, like a bus, or a bike. They may be your parents but if you paid for that car with your own money, you should still have a say on who can and can't use it, and you shouldn't have to foot the car bills yourself if you aren't the only one using it.

You don't have to hand them the key every time... drive them to places every now and then, then be a little tardy in picking them up. They'll get the idea.

Always keep the gas low, keep your title in a safe place away from them and calmly remind your parents that if they take your car without your permission you'll call the cops. Also you live in Texas, the weather is nice most of the year, a motorcycle wouldn't be a bad option. ;)

stand up to them if your old enough to have a car you should have the marbles to do that

Pop out the ignition fuse each time you park the car at their house. Then let them have the key and watch as they fail to be able to start it! Muhahaha!
