Today, after spending months comparing the previous weather forecasts to work out the exact date, and after travelling 12000 km by plane to see the cherry blossoms in bloom in Japan, I learned that this year, they bloomed 10 days earlier than expected. And to top it off, it turns out I’m allergic. FML

Well look on the bright side, you went to Japan. Even if you were allergic, it would be nice to see new things there.

Reminds me of the time I went to China during their winter and it started snowing two days before departing back to Australia. Bad luck, OP.

Going to Japan JUST to see sakura bloom is not really wise. You can see blooming cherries everywhere. And frankly apple trees bloom just as spectacular. So I hope you planned a lot more things to do while there, otherwise ydi

I actually really feel for OP, because this is something I've wanted to do myself for a while now.

If you came to Japan ONLY to see the Cherry Blossoms (and didn't bother to check the current status of the blossoms from Japanese websites/newspapers etc..) YDI. Also, you could have just bought a train ticket north from Tokyo and still have seen cherry blossoms during your stay since they bloom later. Overall, I hope you did more in Japan than just try and see some cherry blossoms as there is tons of things to do and see here.

Hanami was in March/April......It is beautiful but Japan has even more to offer :)

Sucks, but at least you can enjoy Japan. I had an awesome time there.

I went to Vancouver, Canada once and in the spring and there are amazing cherry blossoms. Anyway, bad luck.
