I gotta agree with the stepdad. Too many kids nowadays go into "social depression" from things as small as saying "your fat" or another elementary insult.
So you're not factoring in emotions magnified by mental disorders such as Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, or EDNOS. Disorders such as these can either greatly affect the functions of the limbic system- or put an amygdala (the emotional center of the brain) into an uncontrollable overdrive until someone is able to confirm a diagnosis and educate themselves on healthy coping mechanisms. These emotions are real. Depression is real; and it all stems from the physical brain having certain hinderances beyond an individual's control. "Mind over matter" will never work until a person learns how to understand their mind, their triggers, and how to cope with extreme emotions in a healthy way.
Hearing 'you're fat' is upsetting. And if someone is being bullied or feel like they have no friend then they may well be very unhappy and that is not something you should mock them for. It is a horrible situation so please please don't trivialise it.
you can chew gum to keep from crying while cutting onions, in every other situation, not being a little BITCH works too
Man. that guy's a real assbag. Good luck OP, and don't worry about what that jackass says. Depression sucks, trust me. I got it real bad. Did you get any antidepressants? it might help.
I have depression too. It is horrible. He is a **** for saying that. He does not know how hard depression can be. Depression is common...know that you are not the only one who suffers-it makes you feel better. At least it can be cured :) Stay strong and stay around positive people. They will make you feel way better...trust me. You should get some anti-depressants and try to avoid horrible people like your step-father. Best of luck!
well toughen up! OCD and depression are attention seeker deseases and physcos that actually have them.. you're either mentally unstable which would suck, or you're one in three kids nowadays that think they are OCD, apathetic or depressed. Grow up. we all have problems! get over it..
That's some tough love there...
It seems a lot of people have issues recognizing that depression is a serious mental illness, and not just casual sorrow.
...uh...yeah okay... That's totally something you say to someone diagnosed with depression or any mention illness. Yeah, A+ parenting, pops! -.-" Stay strong, OP, don't let him get to you. But what'd your mom think when you told her??
i feel you OP. same happened to me.

What? He calls you the c word and blows off your illness? horrid. stay strong, OP.
People can be so hateful. Surround yourself with positive people. You're strong enough to get through this :)
