Today, an old guy with a cane got up in my face for "mocking" the way he walked. In retrospect, I guess it is pretty offensive for me to have had knee surgery and still be recovering from it. My apologies. FML

The elderly can be just as inconsiderate and self-absorbed as anyone else. Sorry, OP, I hope your recovery goes well.

you should've kicked him in his good knee

I've noticed that there are a LOT of people who think that they are the only ones dealing with problems. So many people get confrontational because they're sick, they're injured, they have a kid, etc etc. Never occurs to them that the rest of the world might be suffering too. They get even angrier if you happen to be more disabled than them. They're so used to using it as a club to get their way. I've seen a grown woman screaming at a blind 12 year with one leg for mentioning she had terminal cancer when the woman complained about her melanoma. According to her, "kids can't get cancer."

What the f**k are you even talking about? Just wanted to have an input I guess. Smh

You're so right 32. People need to stop and realize they're not the only one suffering or going through what they're going through. One saying I love is "you don't know what you don't know." If someone is being really grumpy with you, maybe it's because they just lost a loved one or something, better to just smile at them and move on than get confrontational about it. Everyone has their problems and issues. We all like to think that our situation is unique or special but in reality, the chances are there are a lot of people going through exactly what you're going through.

isn't it frustrating when people just spit their vile out without giving you a chance to retaliate! hope you get well soon

Although it hasn't happened yet, one of my biggest fears is someone thinking I'm mocking their limp, since I suffered from hip dysplasia for the first 13 years of my life and have a lasting limp from it. Every time I cross paths with someone else who limps, I am always afraid this is going to happen. Sorry you had to live my nightmare, OP!

I hate this... I have damaged cartilage in my knee that acts up when there is weather changes, and I'm always getting looks from older people and it makes me so scared to sit in the priority seats on a bus when there are no other seats.
