Today, and for a long time, I've had a phobia of schools. I'm extremely stressed out about starting in a new school. Normal, right? Yes, except that I'm the teacher. FML

But OP said he has had a phobia of schools for a long time, why become a teacher?

I'm in the same boat. Today I start my first day as a surgeon... Except I have a phobia of cutting people open...

I have to ask, if you have a phobia of schools why did you choose to become a teacher? Perhaps private tutoring might be more your thing or something else along these lines

I'm scared of dead bodies. So I should become a mortician, yeah?

Go see a psychologist. Phobias are really, REALLY easy to treat, you just have to want to go through a few scary weeks to be done with it. Also I would assume you're not telling the whole story due to (1) people not caring and/or (2) max. amount of letters. A phobia of 'schools' would mean you don't even go back to a school because you're that afraid, given that a 'phobia' is a very intense fear. But my point remains: go see a psychologist.

Phobias are one is the most difficult things to treat. Not little irrational fears, phobias. The are nearly impossible to truly get over.

On the bright side, you can now related to your students.

I hate to say this, but YDI for choosing a profession in which you would have to go to a place you fear. Teaching is stressful enough without adding your phobia to the mix.

Perhaps the OP did all the research, and just only began to experience the fear and anxiety AFTER beginning work as a teacher? Just a thought.

that's a real smart idea to be a teacher knowing you have a phobia

then why'd you do into teaching. I mean you have to go to school for that and then you have to go to school to do that. sounds like you either didn't think it through or this is a BS confusion
