Today, as I woke up early to do my physics homework, I heard my parents talk about how big a disappointment I am for them. They discussed how stupid, immature and how big a burden I was. They knew I was listening. FML
I agree, your life sucks 39 993
You deserved it 4 580

Same thing different taste

parents who talk shit like that are ******* pathetic, they don't realise that it is their parenting that is a let down.

Study hard, graduate. Move out and never look back.

Dude, maybe they were joking..? Sense of humor? I think not. OR! maybe you are a huge burden and should get out of their house. :] "We're putting the house on the market." "Where are we moving?" "Is the house haunted?" "Nancy and I are retiring and sailing around the world on my boat. We are living the dream." "Well what about us?" "I- I'm sorry. Robert... we thought that you should take responsibility for your own lives." "And this is the exciting part. We're gonna put enough money in your accounts for a security deposit on an apartment." "What's this all about?" "Um, more than just money. We're gonna get you another kind of support as well." "You're both gonna see therapists. Nancy thinks it'll help. And guys, that's non-negotiable." "Hold on. We're not going on the boat, Derek's selling the house, we have to go to therapy?" [Robert nods] "WHAT THE **** HAPPENED?"

No matter what you did, you are the product of THEIR teaching. That's why people almost always "turn into" one of their parents; the person who raises you is the single biggest influence in your life. So if you're f*ed up, it's their own damn fault for being sh*tty parents.

Clearly you're not THAT much of a disappointment if you woke up early to do physics homework (:

You're smarter than your parents. That's difficult for some kids to accept, but it's like learning about santa claus... it's weird at first, but better for you in the long run. Just accept the fact that they are incompetent whiners and move on with your life. At least now you know not to depend on them, and you can focus on being more self-reliant.

If the kid was self reliant to begin with maybe their parents wouldn't consider them to be a burden.

I overheard a similar conversation once. At the moment, I was devastated; in the long run, It strengthened my resolve to be myself. I loved my parents and forgave them in my heart, but never will forget that moment. I hope you'll prove them wrong, and be stronger for it too.

that really sucks for you, but you'll be okay, i think. my mom was an abusive drunk, but i moved out after high school, and i'm supporting myself through university. just carry on and work hard, and you'll do fine in life.

I just had a Mrs. Kim flashback to Gilmore Girls.

Cerezo, I am so sorry. I had similar emotional abuse from my parents. I grew up and have had no contact with them since about 1981. Circa 1988, I ran into one of my cousins in a coffeehouse and thought there might be some reconciliations. But being with my cousins a little bit in the next few months showed me that the idea that I was the family scapegoat was so deeply embedded that it was never going to go away. So I just kind of disappeared again. It is sad not to have family, but far worse to have family that mistreat you. When your parents are like this, you have to treat yourself well and kind of be your own parent. Hard as hell, but it can be done.

Sad but true. I moved out ASAP and didn't have real contact until 15 years later, which included sporadic attempts of trying to start a healthy relationship. It was a real tragedy, but a blessing in disguise. To this day, I am proud of who I am :) No one can take this away and the many accomplishments I have made from nothing. However, it does sadden me that people have also gone through this. I don't wish this upon anyone. OP, the world is what you make of it. You have to do what's best for You. Hugs :)

Go stick your correctly done physics HW in their faces :D

Aww thats horrible. You do well with school, become successful and shove it in their face. I know you can do it.
