Today, at a party, I told a joke to my crush. He didn't even smile. An hour later, I heard my model friend tell the exact same joke to him. He said it was the funniest thing he'd ever heard. FML

You guys are great. If I was broken up about this at all, I'd feel much better from a lot of the comments. I'd been flirting with this guy for a while, and this was the coldest he'd ever been to me. He met my friend that very night and wanted to get laid is all. But joke's on him--the friend's engaged! As for the whole maybe my friend told the joke better thing, it's not the kind of joke that needs a bunch of buildup and then a big punchline. It was more of a sarcastic comment-type thing. She didn't tell it any better than I did.

Well now you know they are superficial and not worth your time. You can find better.

You can do so much better, OP. He sounds like a shallow prick.

what a dick, better off not thinking about him

Err... If you were at a party, he might have been sober when you told him the joke, thus he didnt like it ... but when the other girl told the joke a whole hour later he could be drunk as shit and therefor laugh like a maniac =P

These comments are sad. Maybe he's a normal guy but he's just not into you.

What a typical douche. He doesnt deserve you or your friend. Don't worry, karma always finds people like that. I guarantee he will have his miserable heart broken by some superficial girl.

I would slap him for being a dick :)

I recall woman did that for gold digging guess guys do it to.

Yeah, I've had this type of thing happen to me. I've also had an idea of something funny to say in response to something, but think it's too cheesy so I don't, only to have my friend say it and everyone laughs. I feel sad to think that maybe I could have said it and shown my sense of humour to the girls, but then I figure that they probably wouldn't have laughed if I said it anyway. This only makes me sadder though. To quote someone even more sad than myself: Crushing loneliness consumes my very essence. My life is a parade of missed chances and social misfires, yet I continue to hide behind a mask of happiness.
