OP here. First off, yes this was my performance. We'd been preparing some of the hardest pieces on the selection list for three months and had to perform them in front of the toughest judges in the state. We received a standing ovation and the top score possible, but it really hit hard when I saw my mom sitting there idly. We were all enjoying our results within the band so I tried not to let her negativity bring me down that much, but she could have at least said good job without being asked how we did.

she chooses to disagree and refuses to be part of crowd mindset. cant see whats bad in that
Maybe it's the fact her child accomplished something great and she shut OP down by not clapping.
I know many people have said this but I'll bring it up as a valid point. Just because your mom didn't stand up and applaud doesn't mean she doesn't care. If she really didn't care then she wouldn't of shown up at all. Maybe it's just how she is.. Inside she could be happy as a clam for her son and be proud and happy but outside her actions are different. Not everybody gets social cues and it's difficult to read people. I know if my son ever had a performance and everyone else clapped I'd probably just be sitting there doing nothing but not because I'm not proud, I'd be extremely proud. I myself have a really tough time expressing emotions and show how excited I am simply because I've been socially enept, awkward and I can't show how I really feel all my life. Don't assume the bad too quickly OP :)
Do you feel better now,57?
thats cold :/
Thats her way if saying you were adopted.
The only thing adopted children don't give a mother is a trip to the delivery room, stitches, stretch marks, swollen boobs... Congrats on your performance Op. I'm sure your mom is proud. Some people aren't as demonstrative as others.
hopefully she gets to tell you why she didn't join the crowd. or that she did something special for you after the performance
Grand celebration afterword...so distracted trying to think of what to do... Good job OP...
This reminds me of that blonde girl from that Disney show Camp Rock. Sorry OP
While hes at it do u think he should say he ****** her mom ? You give really bad ******* advice man.

There would be some irony there if that was the case #33 since being the only one not clapping draws attention to her.
If it's your performance than this is an even bigger FML
