Today, during my uncle's funeral, my four year old loudly asked, "Where's all the dead people?" FML

"Not here honey. Just wait for the zombie apocalypse"

You can't expect a four year old to know exactly what to say or do. My nephew has embarrassed me many times :/ Sorry about your loss OP

Lol. That reminds me of the time my little brother asked loudly at a funeral why our grandmother died in a box. He was 4 at the time.

Tell him that the dead people have been stuffed in a locker on top of a pile of discarded Soviet Army uniforms.* Sorry to hear that your uncle died, by the way. *may trigger more questions

Why are you taking your four year old to a funeral?

When my mother died I had no choice but to take my children, twins aged 4 and my oldest aged 5 to the funeral. I explained as simply as I could what was going on and they did well. That experience helped when my husband, their father passed away. Sorry about your loss OP

She is the parent. She decides what is best for her child. If she wants to take her 4 year old to a funeral, that's her choice. No one knows the family situation, how close they were. Not everyone would do it, but this is not your child.

You have to keep in mind that the younger the children are, the less aware they will be, so if your four year old was to exclaim such things, there really should be nothing to be embarrassed about, especially if your kid didn't know much about what's actually going on.

When I was little, I loudly asked my mom at a funeral where the bride was. " / Could've been worse.

Kids are awesome. I wish adults would learn from children.

I wouldn't of taken the child to the funeral. Unless they were extremely close but then the kid wouldn't be like that.
