Today, feeling very self-conscious about my looks, I told my mom I felt ugly and wished I could be as beautiful as her. She only said, "Yeah, I'm pretty, I wonder what happened to you." FML

But OP was having confidence issues. That's hardly the time to be teasing or using sarcasm. As a parent, OP's mother should be sensitive to her needs and know when it's appropriate to joke around.

She may have felt you were fishing for a compliment and decided to be a bitch about it. Either way, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there is someone out there who thinks your mom is ugly and you are beautiful. Hopefully you find this person who can help you feel beautiful, but the first step is to believe it yourself. Do something special for yourself to make you feel good and boost your confidence.
