Today, for my girlfriend's birthday, I got her an external hard drive and my grandmother's engagement ring. When she opened both boxes, I took her hand and looked deep in her eyes and told her to pick whichever she wanted. She took the external hard drive, even though she already has one. FML

External HDD, or a ring? Propose to her properly you fool. Should've given her the HDD, then taken her out for a romantic meal and proposed to her. It could have been a hint though, sure you're good enough in the sack?

Are you sure she realized it was a proposal? Maybe she just thought you were offering her jewelry as a gift, and didn't really want it...

You didn't really imply that it was an engagement ring sooo for all she knows you're telling her to choose between a hard drive or probably an ugly 50 year old ring..I mean I'd choose neither like wtf? A harddrive? She's your girlfriend, not your sister
