Today, for the first time I sat next to a hot babe. I was feeling nervous, nevertheless, I managed to shyly ask her phone number. It’s only when I arrived back home that I realized there was a digit missing. FML

choppedNskrewed also guys, the missing digit didn't have to be the one on the end, it could have been one in the middle, in which case trying every digit would take a VERY long time :)

We need a follow-up on this. What happened? Did it end up with marriage?

Why can't all girls do this. she didn't embarrass you and you found out she wasn't interested in you. kind of worked out

There is no such thing as a stupid question. I think for someone learning the language and obviously learning about the country, they can ask anything they want and deserve a nice reply. Every student has a different cultural capital.

You're a teacher. Teach him.

That's not a stupid question. I feel for this student. He mustered up his courage to ask something and in return got this kind of response, regardless of this opinion is expressed. Singapore is a country and that's a city by itself. Even if this example doesn't exist, please don't assume every single country must have different cities. A "stupid" question is a symptom of deeper problems. To OP and anyone who berates this little kid, have you ever imagine yourself in his shoe?

At least they asked! Why patronize someone when they want to learn!

It's not an unreasonable question. In terms of large cities, Paris is probably the only one. By large city, they refer to places like NYC, LA, Toronto, Beijing, etc. It's not uncommon for some countries to not even have a single "city"

This Fml and most of the people commenting on here are just too harsh. The student could have been really young, no? Even if that were not the case, they might just not have enough knowledge and we're obviously trying to gain some by asking the question! What kind of a teacher would call that a disaster?! Your job is to teach people and not shame them for not knowing stuff! Even if the questions are petty! Nobody just knows everything without asking questions and finding answers! Shame on you, OP, as well as all the ignorant people over here!
