Today, half of my motivation to stop drinking is so that my tolerance will go down, because I currently can't actually afford enough alcohol to get even tipsy anymore. FML

Keep it up and your motivation will go towards staying sober. You'll see the benefits soon enough! Good luck!

Maybe it's a sign you should stop drinking for a long while OP.

Being from Nottingham and hearing so many people say this makes me think OP may not be and alcoholic and is actually a university student who likes drinking on nights out but has built up too much of a tolerance to get drunk on his/her budget. The culture in Notts is it's not a good night unless it's hard to remember. My reading of this is that OP is stopping because they're broke, not because they consider themselves to have a drinking problem. However, if OP is in actual fact struggling with alcoholism then he/she should try Sobar on Friar Lane off of Market Square. It's a decent place and alcohol free :)

I've slowed down my drinking for the same reason $200 at a bar was just unsustainable. Now I just have 1 or 2 at a bar and DD save the hard drinking for my own booze

I'm in the same boat op, it's hard to stop but just keep yourself disciplined. Disconnect from sources of alcohol for a while (parties or get-togethers), because it definitely helps.

i'm with you man, plus the holidays are coming, we are ******. I'll meet you in the streets fellow homeless man

I know that feeling and I wish you the best of luck, but keep in mind it takes some serious time for your tolerance to drop. Trust me I tried.
