I'm with all the "omg move out!" people. I'm 18, I live alone in a city 550kms away from my parents. I work to pay for my own groceries/bills/rent/etc because my mother spent all her money on my education. The government doesn't consider me independent so I get no assistance and I still manage. If I can do it, you can. MOVE OUT.

Something that always gets on my nerves (and is only slightly related to this): It's always the poor/working people you see telling their kids to GTFO just because they're 18-20 and "that's how life was for US, Gaddammit!!" The kid is immediately dropped into a sink or swim situation with a bunch of other proleteriat teens with no clue about real life just working enough to get drunk, and usually ends up in the same shitty life as his parents (or worse). Meanwhile, the rich kids' parents dig deep into their deep pockets to make sure he has something going for him for better or worse, barring total blacksheep fuckups. Sure, coddling kids ***** them up too, but that usually never would have been the case with the overbearing/tough love parents anyway. Also, this is a mostly American thing. Asians and Europeans are usually more willing to live communally with family.

A lot of times if you come home on time and do what your supposed to, you'll get more freedom You must have done something that made them not trust you in order to give you such an early curfew, and by not showing up on time it proved to them that you deserved the curfew YDI
