Ooo, that sucks. At least you found out before you proposed in a big public place and she turned you down in front of hundreds of onlookers. Now you should at least be able to return the ring and get a refund.
I'm sorry. Hope you are okay!
That was a good question to ask, but not as an intro to popping the question. That could lead onto finding out how she feels about you and the relationship and things. But three years really isn't that long, especially if you're young. Maybe she's not 'scouting for better options' but simply not sure where she wants to be in a few years. Talk to her, and find out what she wants.
At least she was honest and didn't say yes and drag things out even marry you just to be like oh hey...I'm not feeling marriage.
Good thing you asked huh.
I would have popped the question anyway.
Welp, take tha rock back and keep it movin

In retrospect, perhaps you should've asked her that question a while back. At least BEFORE you bought the ring.
Well, no kidding. People can be really dumb--you should always talk to her about marriage before because you may think that your relationship is TOTALLY different than she thinks it is. Me? I was jokingly chatting with my boyfriend about marriage years before we did it, and I went to pick out my ring with him, so he knew I would say yes and I wouldn't have any second thoughts.
